It’s no secret that more and more people are adopting a meat-free diet – whether that’s vegetarian, pescatarian or vegan. The Mexican cuisine offers countless meatless options for anyone with dietary restrictions. Vegan tacos have been a hot topic of 2018 and we can’t wait to see what will come of 2019 … vegan quesadillas perhaps?!

Burrito Bowls

It seems like 2018 has also been the year of food bowls. From buddha bowls to poké bowls and everything in between, food bowls are here to stay!

Our favourite of course is the burrito bowl. It encompasses all of our favourite ingredients into one blissful bowl that will leave you satisfied.

Black beans, Mexi rice, grilled corn, pico de gallo, cabbage, guac & more! We’re salivating just thinking about it.

Vegan Cheese

You know vegan quesadillas aren’t possible without the vegan cheese! Due to more and more non-dairy options, it’s common to see plant-based cheeses popping up around every corner. With the global market for vegan cheese estimated to be worth $4 billion by 2024, it’s no wonder it’s been one of the biggest hits this year!

We’ll fill you in on a secret … Taco Bill will be jumping on board in the near future, so keep an eye out!

Mexico has long been known for its street food so it’s only fitting that street tacos would become a food trend eventually! But what’s the difference between a street taco and normal taco?

A street taco is more traditional and typical served on a soft corn tortilla with onions, cilantro and salsa. Hop on this trend while you still can, with 2 street tacos for $12 for the month of November!

So there we have it amigos – the top Mexican food trends of 2018! We can only imagine what’s to come in 2019. What do you reckon will be next year’s biggest hits?
