Let’s cut straight to the chase amigos...
The facts are:
It’s cold
We’re stuck at home
Tomorrow is National Tequila Day
What was that last one? “National Tequila Day?” you say.
That’s correct, amigos, tomorrow is National Tequila Day! Though we at Taco Bill are heartbroken we can’t celebrate Mexico’s native spirit together, below are some ways you can enjoy Tequila the right way at home.
KNOW YOUR TEQUILA
One tequila does not fit all. All tequila is made from the distillation of juice from the blue agave plant but is put through different processes to become what we know and love.
Silver (Blanco): Clean and aged for only a few weeks (up to 2 months). Ideal for use in margaritas and mixed drinks
Reposado: “Rested” or aged for up to 1 year. Take on a golden hue and oaky taste from the barrels they are aged in.
Añejo: Aged for at least 1 year (up to 3). Very smooth taste which makes it the ideal tequila for sipping.
Extra Añejo: Aged for over 3 years. The most expensive type of tequila, meant to be enjoyed, not shot or mixed.
Mezcal: Made in different regions of Mexico from the previous types. Cooked inside earthen pits lined with lava rocks and filled with wood and charcoal before being distilled in clay pots. This production process gives Mezcal a smokey taste you won’t find in the other types of tequila.
SET THE MOOD
No fiesta is complete without the right music! Mexico has a beautifully rich culture of art and music, with different genres stemming from different areas of the country. You don’t have to be dressed up to move your hips! Youtube, Spotify, and Apple Music are all havens for discovering new artists - pick a playlist and let the celebrations begin!
ORDER TACO BILL!
A day with tequila wouldn’t be complete without some tacos. Warm, fresh, and filling, our dishes are the ultimate comfort food for cold winter nights. Whether your perfect pairing alongside your tequila is nachos, a quesadilla, or fajitas, we have something for everyone.
While we wish we could be cheers’ing over a round of margaritas with our amigos, we hope you have a safe celebration at home!
We will see you soon, but until then - salud!
